double holiday!

Happy 100th Birthday to Arizona! I do love my state, and its sunny lovely weather, where rain is something to be eagerly anticipated and haboobs happen. And a Happy Valentine's to all! I really like Valentine's Day, even when single. What's not to love about pink and red hearts and lace and flowers and sappy stuff? It's fun to watch other people creatively love other people. I used markers this morning, which made me happy. I got some valentine cards and yucky Necco sweethearts from some students. I ate a pink cupcake my sister made, and got a card from my parents (which was randomly in spanish). There are pink and white cookies of love calling my name from the kitchen table - I'll probably eat one for breakfast. After work, I went out with Matt and Chris to possibly the most un-Valentiney movie ever. Today was a very bad day to forget my jacket, and so when I got to the theatre and found out the boys were still a ways away, I walked over to the fireplace. ...

A Week in the Life

Image
Well hello lovely reader! It has been indeed quite some time since my last post, which clearly means I have been off enjoying real life. The problem with extensive time in the real world is that when I come back to the computer, there's a lot to catch up on, and it's hard to do it all justice. So here is my attempt to sum up the last week in it's awesome entirety. WARNING: very long post. Proceed at your own risk. Wednesday Last Wednesday, after a morning of grocery shopping and cleaning, I went to the airport to pick up John. I parked my car and entered the forgotten realm that is Terminal 2 at Sky Harbor. Along with perhaps five other people, I sat anxiously outside the security line, pacing and waiting for John to disembark. I knew he had landed, and I kept waiting to catch sight of combat boots walking down the terminal amide the throngs smattering of other passengers. No such luck. Eventually, I get a call from him asking where I am. Now, Terminal 2 is the d...

Summer Adventure #1

Image
I have smooshed bug all over my finger. Excuse me while I go wash that off... I have been productive today! Mis padres are in Scotland and my sister was off running a concert, so after I got home from work (a couple hours early...boo for cancellations!) I cleaned. Well, first I went grocery shopping. Then, as I was putting away the groceries, I noticed how grody the refrigerator was getting, and after discovering several unidentifiable things lurking in tupperware, I decided it was time to tame this beast. I took out shelves and scrubbed them, I pulled things out that I don't want to know why they were in there in the first place, I organized and consolidated and threw out and then organized some more when I put my groceries away. Ahhhh. :) After that, I cleaned my whole room - including emptying and organizing every drawer, going through my closet, going through my desk, moving the catbox out AT LAST, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, sorting, throwing out crap, all kinds of f...

Day 27: An Original Photo of the City I Live In

Image
Two things before I get to the picture. 1) OVERJOYED NERD MOMENT! Filming for the Hobbit has begun!!!!!! My first two thoughts when watching this were "12 years ago?!?!?" and "Wow, Peter Jackson is almost unrecognizable." BUT I'M SO EXCITED!! 2) I feel like I have an entourage. Every time I come home, Fiyero and Dallas ( my two of the four felines that live in my house) are waiting outside my car door by the time I'm ready to open it, and they walk with me inside. If I open the door again about 30 seconds later, Eli will be there - he's always a little bit slow. Alright, original picture of my city. As usual, I had several different choices to cycle through. Should I do a cool aerial view from one of my flights? Or a panoramic view from the top of North Mountain, or a deserty view with the city in the distance from the Sonoran Reserve? As I was clicking through them all, I liked most of them, and then I found this one and went "ooooooooh!...
