time well spent

I slept in this morning, thanks to the Feminist Theory and Music conference that overtook the SoM this week, wreaking havoc with classroom usage and cancelling several classes. After a conducting class filled with flirting - yes, I said it! - and some observations of rambunctious 3rd graders and eensy weensy adorable 1st graders, I got to meet up with Rebekah to spend an afternoon not looking at our cellphones or other electronics, but merely enjoying one another's company. We went to As You Wish to indulge our introverted, artistic selves. I haven't been in months, and being covered in glaze again (literally, to my own misfortune) was quite therapeutic. It's such a lovely way to spend time with someone without having to really talk all that much. You sit side by side, absorbed in your painting, meticulously dabbing glaze on your piece with a paintbrush that is clearly missing the better days before several dozen children jabbed it into clay crevices and mooshed it a...

Well, it's been a hot minute since we've been here, hasn't it? More like a hot almost-half-a-decade. How embarassing. Live, blog, live again! I am here to resuscitate you! And I'm impressed with myself for spelling that right on the first try, because I haven't had to type anything at all in so long. Or write. Being a mom of two tiny toddlers is a good way to make you lose all the skills you thought you'd mastered (like speaking in complete sentences and using a pencil) and making you competent in a lot of new categories, like "maintaining a soft voice and pleastant expression while repeating yourself ad nauseum" and "picking up 50 noodles one by one off the floor because the broom would just smear them everywhere." Anyway, where were we? Oh yes, blogging. I've found myself with an itch to start writing again, and I remembered that I used to write on here quite frequently, so I thought I'd give it another shot. An Enchantingly Eventful Easter

I'm into alliteration recently. Besides my own current penchant, however, if you continue reading there will be a little more explanation as to the abundance of E's in the title of this post. This whole weekend has been wonderful fun, which has kept me from blogging. As much as I would like to stick to the idea of blogging every day, real life is much more important than the internet facsimile, so I chose live interaction (and sleep). I had so much fun, though, that now the blog is going to run a little long just so I can share all my enjoyment with you! Luck you. Friday night I went and saw Judy: The Musical for two reasons. 1) my friend Rebecca was in the cast. 2) It was starring Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Belle is far and away my favorite Disney princess, so I couldn't pass it up. (3 reasons - it counts for concert attendance credit!)
